Helana & ErinOwners & DirectorsHelana & Erin began working in childcare in 2001.
They met in 2012 and opened SLE in 2016. LauraLead TeacherI am Teacher Laura. I've been a Lead Teacher at SLE since 2017 and in the ECE field since 1993.
Prior to that I was a stay at home mom. I enjoy every child and family here at SLE MollyLead TeacherMy name is Molly Dickson, and I am excited to join the Sequim Little Explorers Early Learning team of teachers! I had a career in veterinary medicine for 30 years, doing everything from kennel aide, assisting, to Human Resources and Management. I have a soft spot for children; I am one of nine children myself and was surrounded by siblings growing up in Forks and Quilcene with no electricity or running water. I milked a cow by hand from the age of 10 until I moved out at 19.
I learned to read at the age of three at my brother’s elbow when he began homeschooling for kindergarten. Not put off by being told it “wasn’t my turn”, I pestered until I was included. Books were the only means of entertainment and learning to read early opened a world of possibilities for me. My favorite books were those that included animals, especially horses. I have spent time volunteering to read to toddlers in a daycare near my previous job, going to the library, choosing books, and reading them aloud to the children. My first session had one interested child out of 15 sitting through one book; my last session had all the children sitting through seven books! I spent 12 years as a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT where children were my special interest. I was able to bond with them quickly in an emergency and was often called in as the “child whisperer” on accident scenes. I am always quick to lend a helping hand. I enjoy riding the horses my husband and I have bred, raised, and trained ourselves. I can be found barrel racing, pole bending, and other patterned events on the weekends in the summer. I can also be found trail riding, jumping, doing ranch work, or driving a single horse or a team, all with the same horses! I also have a Shetland Pony named Minion who pulls a cart; Minion was responsible for carrying Santa in a sleigh to the tree lighting ceremony for Sequim in 2019. I also enjoy writing, reading, needlepoint, and embroidery. I am adjusting to my new environment and can’t wait to begin sharing my knowledge and understanding with your children. HannahLead TeacherHello everyone, my name is Hannah. I grew up in southern California and was homeschooled up to twelfth grade. TimVolunteerTim here, I’m a volunteer at the SLE
I first started work with young children in 1996 as a children’s education worker at my church. After a few years there, I began teaching conversational English in Shanghai, China to public school students; grades pre-school through 3rd grade level. (2000-2003) I attended Clover Park Technical College in Steilacoom, WA. for a time, earning an Associate Degree in Applied Technology. (2006-2008) From there I continued children’s work in Surgut, Russia teaching English to pre-school students, through middle school age. In China & Russia I was employed by private English schools, working within the public school system. (2010-2012) I completed an Associate Degree program in Elementary Education at Pierce College, also a “Washington State One-Year Early Childhood Education Certificate” program through Pierce College in 2016. In 2018 I completed a Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in Social Work, through Central Washington University. This year, I completed an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education through Peninsula College. Working with young children and helping in their healthy Social, Emotional, Physical & Cognitive development has been my long-term goal. I count it a great privilege to work with the children at Little Explorers and deeply appreciate the trust that has been placed in me by staff members, parents, & guardians here! |
LindaMeal Coordinator/Teacher SupportI have been in the childcare field since the late fall of 1980. I worked with my mother-in-law first then started my in-home childcare and ran it till March of 1992. This is when a very good friend and myself started a childcare center. At one point we had 3 centers and later, combine them into one larger facility.
In 2013, we had chose to close the center and I went to work for another center from then till Dec. 2021. My husband and I decided to move from the Tacoma area to Sequim to be closer to our younger grandboys and youngest daughter, Helana. I like to read, cruising, summer camping when possible, and gardening. I am looking forward to semi-retirement soon and being part of the SLE Team. KodiLead TeacherMy name is Kodi. I am a dog mom of one silly boy named Jax. We are originally from Salt Lake City, Utah. I much prefer the small town/ homey feel over the busy city. I tend to be the goofy and random one, but my goal is to keep the atmosphere light hearted and fun. Anything to keep a smile on someones face. Family time is very precious to me, I make sure I do my best to be a good role model for my niece and especially the kiddos I get to see everyday. AngieLead TeacherHello Families,
